Mark Lawrenson sends Eden Hazard warning to Chelsea FC
Mark Lawrenson warns Chelsea FC that they will have to start performing at a high level this season

Mark Lawrenson has warned Chelsea FC that they will have to start performing at a high level this season or risk losing Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge has been a relentless source of speculation this summer after Chelsea FC ended up in fifth place in the Premier League table last term.
The Blues will have to settle for a spot in the Europa League rather than the Champions League this term and Hazard has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois ended up completing his move to Real Madrid last week and Hazard could still follow suit, with the playmaker’s contract at Stamford Bridge set to expire in 2020.
And Lawrenson has claimed that Chelsea FC will need to hit the ground running under new boss Maurizio Sarri as they look to bounce back from their disappointing campaign last term.
Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “Chelsea are in a mess at the moment.
“The Blues at least managed to replace goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is on his way to Real Madrid, but they look short up front with Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.
“For their sake, I hope it does not quickly turn into a season where, a few weeks in, Eden Hazard starts to wonder why he did not also leave for Real.”
Chelsea FC will kick off their new Premier League campaign with a trip to Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues did manage to end last season on a positive note by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley back in May.
