Ashley Cole reacts to Mason Mount’s display in Chelsea FC’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City
Ashley Cole had some words of encouragement for Mason Mount after Chelsea FC's 1-1 draw with Leicester City

Ashley Cole praised Mason Mount for his performance in the first half of Chelsea FC’s frustrating 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.
Mount featured from the start at Stamford Bridge and the young attacker made an impact early on when he scored Chelsea FC’s opener in the seventh minute.
The 20-year-old did well to win the ball of Wilfred Ndidi and fire home a confident finish to give Frank Lampard’s side the lead in front of their home fans.
However, Chelsea FC were unable to capitalise on their early dominance as they failed to add a second goal before the break.
Leicester City improved after the break and they equalised in the 67th minute when Ndidi fired home a brilliant header to make amends for his earlier error.
Chelsea FC were unable to conjure an equaliser as they were forced to settle for a point and made to wait for their first Premier League win under new boss Lampard.
Speaking a half-time at Stamford Bridge, Cole praised Mount for the impact he had and the goal he scored.
Cole told Sky Sports: “He [Mount] has a great understanding of when to go and try and win the ball and when to stay.
“He picked the right moment [for his goal]. He saw Ndidi was a little bit under pressure, won the ball and it was a great finish. Mason should have had two or three [in the first half].
Cole also praised Olivier Giroud, adding: “Giroud has been a big influence on this game – he combined with the midfielders and held up the ball well.”
Chelsea FC must now dust themselves down as they prepare for their next Premier League game, which is a trip to Norwich City next Saturday lunchtime.
