Frank Lampard has warned Manchester United that his Chelsea FC team will not take their fourth-round League Cup clash “lightly” as they prepare to host the Red Devils at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea FC are preparing to welcome Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to west London on Wednesday night in the fourth round of the League Cup at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues head into the game looking to gain revenge for their 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester United back in August on the opening weekend of the season.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea FC have won their last game, with the Red Devils beating Norwich City at the weekend and the Blues sealing a victory away at Burnley.

Despite Chelsea FC being focused on their Premier League and Champions League endeavours, Lampard has insisted that his side will not take their foot off the pedal for Wednesday night’s clash.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Sky Sports, Lampard said: “I won’t take this game lightly even if I make changes.

“If players do step out of the line up with a view to the coming weeks, it’s about the big picture. I understand how players are but those who start will give everything.

“[The 4-0 defeat by United] feels a million miles away but I’m not disregarding it. They hurt us four times in a game we played particularly well in.”

Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday night when they travel to Watford in the top flight.

The Blues are currently fourth in the Premier League table as they seek Champions League qualification in their first season under Lampard.
