Chelsea FC are still to make a decision about Mateo Kovacic's situation, say reports
Chelsea FC have seven days to make a decision on Mateo Kovacic’s future, according to reports in the British media.
Website Goal is reporting that the Blues are weighing up the Croatia international’s future following Maurizio Sarri’s move away from the Stamford Bridge club.
According to the same story, Sarri was keen to keep Kovacic at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer, but his exit from the club to join Juventus may have changed the situation.
Chelsea FC would be able to sign Kovacic on a permanent deal from Real Madrid if they so wished despite their transfer ban, the story explains.
However, it is also being claimed that the midfielder himself is yet to hear anything from Chelsea FC about his future at the club.
Kovavic could have his loan deal extended or sign a permanent deal with Chelsea FC before 1 July, but it is not yet clear what his situation is.
According to the same story, Real Madrid are keen to raise funds in the summer transfer window after having already spent big on signing the likes of Eden Hazard from Chelsea FC.
Kovacic made two assists in 32 Premier League games for Chelsea FC last season.
