Marcos Alonso opens up about Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea FC
Marcos Alonso has his say on Maurizio Sarri's first season in charge at Chelsea FC this term
Marcos Alonso has admitted that it has taken him time to get used to Maurizio Sarri’s management style at Chelsea FC this season.
The Blues brought the Italian in as their new manager back in July last year after the opted to part company with Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
It has been something of a mixed first season for Sarri at Chelsea FC this term, with the Blues having reached the League Cup final but losing to Manchester City.
Chelsea FC have secured their place in the Champions League for next season thanks to their third-placed finish in the Premier League this term.
They will now look to end the campaign with some silverware when they take on Arsenal in the Europa League final in Baku on Wednesday night.
And Spanish defender Alonso has admitted that it has taken time for him and his team-mates to adapt to life under Sarri this season.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Express, Alonso said: “It’s never easy to come to a new country and new league, new football, new culture. The gaffer is still learning.
“He was not a football player either, so he is learning a lot this year.
“Taking orders from someone like that can be different, but at the end of the day we have to be professional and take on whatever he asks us for. He is different.“
The 28-year-old Alonso scored two goals and made four assists in 31 Premier League games for Chelsea FC this season to help them finish third.
He also netted twice in the Europa League to help them set up their final clash with Arsenal this week.
