Victor Moses says Chelsea FC must fight harder than ever to get back into the top four this season
Victor Moses has reminded his Chelsea FC team-mates how important it is for them to finish in the Premier League’s top four this season.
The Blues have been in stuttering form in recent weeks and their disappointing defeat by Manchester United last weekend caused them to drop out of the top four and down into fifth place.
The minimum requirement for Antonio Conte this season will be to guide the Blues to Champions League qualification for next season, after the west London side won the title last term.
Things do not get any easier for Chelsea FC however, with the Blues now preparing for their crunch clash against Manchester City at The Etihad on Sunday afternoon.
Pep Guardiola’s men head into that game fresh from having taken a step closer towards the title by beating Arsenal 3-0 at The Emirates on Thursday night.
However, Moses has told his team-mates to prepare to fight for everything as the Blues look to try and break back into the top four before the season is out.
Speaking to Chelsea FC’s website, Moses said: “Finishing in the top four is crucial.
“We’re a team that almost always finishes in the top four. We don’t want to finish fifth or sixth. We believe in the players we have got. We have got enough quality collectively and individually to do the business.
“It’s not going to be easy. It’s about hard work and determination from all of us. There is a mental strength here. Fifth is not good enough but we still believe in ourselves.
“It’s been a bit up and down this season, and it’s about how we react. We players need to pull ourselves together and make the manager and the fans and everyone at the club proud again.”
Chelsea FC won the Premier League title in style last season but they did not have the distraction of any European football.
