Chelsea FC are keen on a move to sign Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid this summer after he turned down Manchester United, according to reports in Italy.
Italian outlet CalcioMercato, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that new Chelsea FC boss Maurizio Sarri is keen on a move to bring Kovavic to Stamford Bridge this summer before next Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Chelsea FC are believed to be on the lookout for a number of key signings this summer as the Blues look to reshuffle their squad before the transfer window closes next week.
Kovacic apparently turned down the chance of a move to Manchester United, and the same story says that Chelsea FC are now ready to step in to try and sign the Croatia midfielder.
According to the same story, Sarri is desperate to bolster his midfield options before the deadline, and they are now poised to move for Kovacic, who is widely expected to leave Real Madrid this summer.
Chelsea FC have been linked with a whole host of players so far this summer, but the Blues have only been able to bring in Rob Green and Jorginho so far.
Sarri has been tasked with steering Chelsea FC back into the Premier League’s top four after the Blues finished fifth last term.
