Paul Scholes believes that Chelsea FC are still “two or three” players short of being able to challenge for the Premier League title.

The Blues earned a 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday to keep alive their hopes of finishing in the top four this season under Maurizio Sarri.

The west London side currently find themselves in fourth place in the Premier League table with two games left to play as they aim to secure their spot in the Champions League for next season.

Chelsea FC have struggled to produce consistent form under Sarri this season since his appointment as Antonio Conte’s successor at Stamford Bridge last summer.

And former Manchester United star Scholes seems to think that the Blues still need to bring in some significant reinforcements this summer if they are to challenge for the Premier League title next term.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Scholes said: “What they’ll do if Hazard goes I’m not too sure, that’s obviously going to be a big problem [as] whatever team he’s out of is going to suffer.

“I enjoy watching them, I think they’ve got some good footballers, but have they got enough to challenge for the league?

“I think they are two or three players short on that.”

Scholes continued: “I don’t think Chelsea are that far away, I enjoy watching Chelsea, I just think there are a couple of issues they need to sort out,

“Right at the start of the season I thought there was always going to be an issue with Kante and Jorginho.

“Especially in the away games, you’ve seen the away games against the big teams, he doesn’t have the legs to get around the pitch.

“At Chelsea he’s fine, it’s tight, it’s close, he doesn’t get exposed. I think in away games he gets exposed.”

Chelsea FC will take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final clash on Thursday night away from home.

The Blues are aiming to win the Europa League this season after having lifted the trophy for the first time under Rafael Benitez back in 2013.
