Gareth Southgate admits he has been impressed by Mason Mount's form for Chelsea FC this season

Gareth Southgate has admitted that he has been impressed by Mason Mount and his form for Chelsea FC so far this season.
The midfielder has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea FC team under Frank Lampard this term, with the new Blues boss placing his faith firmly in the 20-year-old.
Mount has scored four goals in eight Premier League games for Chelsea FC so far this season and he has started all of the Blues’ top flight games this term.
He has also notched up two appearances in the Champions League for Lampard’s men and has earned plenty of praise for his displays in a Blues shirt this season.
Mount is currently on international duty with Southgate’s England squad – and the Three Lions boss has admitted that he has been thrilled by the midfielder’s development in recent months.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Southgate said: “It’s exactly what I thought of him when I saw him playing for our Under-16s.
“He’s a quality player, an intelligent footballer, presses well, has a real eye for goal, good quality. So, nothing I’ve seen surprises me at all.
“We’ve had him marked as a player from the first time I saw him at St George’s Park. Chelsea would be the same on that, I think.
“Of course he’s now been able to have the opportunity to play in the Premier League and display that against top teams.
“I think you saw his penalty in the Super Cup, that was a nice cameo of what he’s about, really.”
Mount will be expecting to feature for Chelsea FC when the Blues return to Premier League action after the international break with a home clash against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are currently fifth in the Premier League table as Lampard attempts to steer them to Champions League qualification this season.
