Antonio Conte replies when asked if Chelsea FC will sign Serie A duo in January transfer window
The Chelsea FC boss refused to shed light on their apparent pursuit of AS Roma duo Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri
Antonio Conte has remained tightlipped when asked about Chelsea FC signing AS Roma duo Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri.
The defending Premier League champions have been linked with a move to sign a striker throughout the January transfer window but the Blues have been unable to get a deal over the line.
Chelsea FC have reportedly shown an interest in West Ham striker Andy Carroll and Stoke City centre forward Peter Crouch.
However, former Manchester City striker Dzeko has now emerged as their top target in the January transfer window to provide attacking depth in the Chelsea FC squad.
Dzeko’s AS Roma team-mate Palmieri is also being touted with a potential move to the title holders to give Marcos Alonso some competition for a starting spot.
The 23-year-old has only played 16 minutes of competitive football this season following his return from a leg break before Christmas.
Asked about Chelsea fc potentially signing Dzeko or Palmieri in the January transfer window, Italian coach Conte was giving nothing away.
“I don’t know. As you know with the transfer market if there is news the club will inform you,” Conte told his pre-match media conference on Tuesday.
Chelsea FC signed England international Ross Barkley in a £15m deal from Premier League rivals Everton earlier in the January transfer window.
The Blues will take on London rivals Arsenal in the League Cup semi-final at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
