Chelsea FC are leading the race to sign Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell, according to a report in England.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Chelsea FC have lined up Chilwell as a potential candidate to improve their options at left-back.
The same article states that the west London side will make a push to sign the England international in the January transfer window dependant on whether they’re still serving their two-window transfer ban or not.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC are in pole position to sign Chilwell after defending champions Manchester City ended their interest in the 22-year-old full-back.
The Daily Mail go on to report that the Leicester youth graduate has a contract with the one-time Premier League champions that will run until 2024.
Chelsea FC have made a promising start under Frank Lampard after the club legend replaced Maurizio Sarri in the Blues hot-seat in July.
Lampard has placed his faith in young English talent so far this season, giving the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori a chance to shine.
Chelsea FC have won three of their last four Premier League games, losing 2-1 to Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are 10 points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool FC.
