Pundit points to one negative in Chelsea FC deal for Christian Pulisic
The Chelsea FC legend believes Christian Pulisic would have been a good addition for the remainder of the season
Pat Nevin has spoken of his disappointment that Chelsea FC won’t be able to avail of Christian Pulisic’s services until the summer.
The Blues completed their first deal of the January transfer window on Wednesday last week when Pulisic agreed to move to Chelsea FC in a £58m deal from Borussia Dortmund.
Pulisic was immediately loaned back to Dortmund for the remainder of the season as the United States international looks to help BVB get over the line in the Bundesliga title race.
The American playmaker has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the Dortmund team this season, but Pulisic can add quality from the bench to help the German side challenge for honours.
Chelsea FC are lightweight on attacking options following injuries to Pedro Rodriguez and Olivier Giroud, while Willian was forced off in the first half of Chelsea FC’s 0-0 draw with Southampton last week.
The Blues have been heavily reliant on Eden Hazard to score their goals this season given the disappointing form of both Alvaro Morata and Giroud throughout the Premier League campaign so far.
Former Blues winger Nevin admitted that Chelsea FC could do with Pulisic for the remainder of the current campaign to help their top-four challenge and bid to win the Europa League for the second time.
“Chelsea could do with him [Pulisic] right this second,” Nevin told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“Pedro and Giroud are injured. There isn’t much off the bench that can change the game [for Chelsea FC].”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp admitted that Chelsea FC were signing a high quality player after the deal was confirmed last week.
“He’s a good player,” Klopp said, as quoted by BBC Sport.
“I have known him for a while and followed him closely but it’s a good deal for Dortmund because they can keep him until the end of the season and a good signing for Chelsea.
“We will see another really skilled boy playing in England.”
