Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta hints Chelsea FC target Gonzalo Higuain could be sold this summer
Chelsea FC have been handed a possible boost after Juventus admitted that Gonzalo Higuain may be sold in the summer transfer window.
The Argentina international has been linked with a potential move to Chelsea FC following Maurizio Sarri’s appointment as Antonio Conte’s replacement.
Sarri worked with Higuain during his stint in charge of Napoli and the South American produced career best figures under the Italian head coach.
Higuain scored 35 times in 36 games in Serie A in the 2015-16 season before the 30-year-old moved to Juventus in a big-money deal two summers ago.
Chelsea FC spent a club record transfer fee on Alvaro Morata last summer but the £60m addition struggled to maintain his consistency throughout the season.
Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has hinted that Higuain could leave the Serie A champions in the summer transfer window.
“I won’t deny that with the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo we’ve got a quality attacking department that’s a bit crowded,” Marotta is quoted as saying.
“We are talking to Higuain and trying to decide what’s the best solution for everyone. There is huge respect for the player.
“We’ll evaluate things, but nothing concrete has arrived from Chelsea and Milan.”
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a place in the Champions League.
The Blues managed to win the FA Cup in Antonio Conte’s final season in charge thanks to a 1-0 win over Manchester United following Eden Hazard’s winner.
The west London side have signed Napoli midfielder Jorginho and former England goalkeeper Rob Green in the summer transfer window.
