Graeme Souness identifies where Chelsea FC need to make summer signing
The Liverpool FC legend believes Chelsea FC need to sign a 'proper centre-forward' in the summer transfer window
Graeme Souness believes Chelsea FC need to sign a centre-forward in the summer transfer window.
The defending Premier League champions lost 2-1 to bitter rivals Manchester United in the English top flight on Sunday.
Spanish forward Alvaro Morata struggled to leave an imprint on the Premier League clash to continue his disappointing form.
The 24-year-old has only managed to score four goals in his last 26 games in all competitions after a £58m summer move from Real Madrid.
Chelsea FC snapped up France international Olivier Giroud in a £21m deal from bitter rivals Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Former Liverpool FC captain Souness believes Chelsea FC need to sign a proven striker in the summer to bolster their ailing attack.
“When you look at Chelsea, there’s not a lot wrong,” Souness told Sky Sports. “Good football team, they’re just screaming for a proper centre-forward.”
Chelsea FC were initially linked with a move to sign Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku last summer after the Blues sold the powerful centre-forward to Everton in a permanent £28m deal in 2014.
Lukaku completed a £75m move to Manchester United from Everton last summer to result in Chelsea FC altering their plans and swooping for Spanish forward Morata.
The Blues are in fifth place in the Premier League table and six points adrift of second-placed Manchester United in the race to secure a Champions League spot.
