Jamie Redknapp issues his backing for Maurizio Sarri’s first Chelsea FC signing
Former Liverpool FC captain Jamie Redknapp is confident Jorginho will be a hit at Chelsea FC next season

Jamie Redknapp has issued his backing for Jorginho after Maurizio Sarri signed the Napoli star last month.
The Blues completed a £57m deal to sign the Italy international despite Premier League champions Manchester City being favourites to sign the holding midfielder.
Jorginho was a key part of Napoli’s team that pushed Juventus all the way in a compelling Serie A title race last term.
The 27-year-old will be competing with some quality players to secure a starting spot in the middle of the park under Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
The Italian head coach already has three top class central midfielders in the shape of Cesc Fabregas, Tiemoue Bakayoko and N’Golo Kante.
Former Liverpool and Tottenham captain Redknapp is confident Jorginho will have a positive influence on the Chelsea FC team.
“It is a good sign when a new manager’s first act upon arriving at a club is to bring in a player he has worked with closely,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.
“Maurizio Sarri rates £57million signing Jorginho highly and trusts him to be the pass master in Chelsea’s midfield.
“He has a lovely habit of finding a team-mate with practically every pass but he struggled against City at Wembley on Sunday and will need to get up to speed quickly.
“If he does, Chelsea should have a great balance in midfield with Jorginho alonside N’Golo Kante. They have bundles of energy and will keep the ball well.”
Chelsea FC finished in fifth sport in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
The Blues won the FA Cup crown thanks to a 1-0 win over Manchester United at Wembley after Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.
Chelsea FC have also signed England veteran Rob Green to improve their options in goal ahead of the new Premier League season.
