PSG to beat Chelsea to 24-year-old South American midfielder – report
PSG are set to beat Chelsea FC to the signing of Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes, according to a report
Paris Saint-Germain are set to beat Chelsea FC to the signing of Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes, according to a report in England.
The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the Blues look likely to miss out on the signing of the Argentina international despite having agreed a deal in principle with Zenit.
The same article states that Chelsea FC wanted to sign Paredes, 24, to replace Cesc Fabregas after the World Cup winner completed a move to AS Monaco earlier this month.
According to the same story, PSG have capitalised on Chelsea FC’s hesitation and the Ligue 1 leaders have agreed a 40million euros (£34.9m) fee with the Russian club.
With Paredes heading to PSG, Maurizio Sarri and the Chelsea FC board will have to look elsewhere if the Blues are to bolster their midfield options this month.
Chelsea FC completed the signing of Christian Pulisic in a £58m deal from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund earlier this month before the American returned to the Bundesliga side on loan.
Sarri managed to land Gonzalo Higuain on a loan deal for the remainder of the campaign on Wednesday evening after the Argentina international swapped AC Milan for Chelsea FC.
The Blues are facing a battle with Arsenal and Manchester United to secure a top-four finish.
