Maurizio Sarri wants Chelsea FC to sign 31-year-old striker – report
The Chelsea FC manager is keen to sign Gonzalo Higuain from AC Milan in the January transfer window, according to a report in Italy
Maurizio Sarri has asked Chelsea FC to sign AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain to bolster the Blues attack, according to a report in Italy.
Sky Italia, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Chelsea FC manager hasn’t given up on signing the Argentina international despite missing out on the striker in the summer.
The same article states that Sarri has placed Higuain at the top of his shortlist for the January transfer window following the inconsistent form of both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.
The South American moved to AC Milan on a season-long loan from Juventus in the 2018 summer transfer window.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC would be prepared to buy Higuain out of his loan deal at AC Milan and include an option to make the deal permanent with an option to buy at the end of the current campaign.
Higuain has only netted five goals in 12 games in Serie A this season, while the 31-year-old has scored two times and made one assist in five outings in the Europa League.
Chelsea FC sold Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid in 2017 to leave the west London side without a proven goal-scorer in the Premier League.
While Giroud chipped in with important goals throughout his Arsenal career, the France striker has never been a prolific goal-scorer like Costa.
