Maurizio Sarri comments on Chelsea FC’s summer transfer plans
Maurizio Sarri has his say on the forthcoming summer transfer window with Chelsea FC
Maurizio Sarri believes that Chelsea FC only need to sign “one or two” players in the summer window if they are able to overturn their transfer ban.
Fifa upheld their one-year transfer ban on Wednesday after the Blues were found guilty of breaching rules on the transfer and registration of overseas players under the age of 18.
Chelsea FC have refuted the findings and stated their intention to take their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
As things stand, Chelsea FC will not be able to make any new signings this summer.
Chelsea FC boss Sarri does not feel like the Blues need a major squad overhaul this summer, but instead could do with a couple of high-quality additions.
Speaking in an interview quoted by ESPN, Sarri said: “I don’t believe when you buy 10 players. I think we have to buy only one or two players.
“It’s very difficult to cover the gap at the moment. We need to work, probably we need to do something from the market. It’s not easy, because the level of the top two is very, very high.
“Otherwise it’s very difficult to improve immediately. I think we are a very good team, so we need only one, two players, no more.”
The Blues will be welcoming USA international Christian Pulisic to Stamford Bridge this summer after they completed a deal to sign him from Borussia Dortmund in January.
Chelsea FC secured a top-four finish in the Premier League last weekend and they will now prepare for their final top-flight game of the season on Sunday when they travel to Leicester City.
