Chelsea FC targeting deal to sign Timo Werner – report
Chelsea FC want to make a move to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig next year, according to reports
Chelsea FC are planning a summer move to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the 23-year-old forward is in Chelsea FC’s “sights” as they begin to turn their attentions to next year’s transfer windows.
The Blues had their Fifa transfer ban halved by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last week, meaning that they will be free to sign new players in January.
However, the report linking Werner to Stamford Bridge seems to indicate that a summer deal for the German is looking more likely.
The same story says that Chelsea FC are aiming to make Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho their primary transfer target next year.
The article also says that the Blues will look to sign a new centre-forward next year – despite the rise of Tammy Abraham this season – and that Werner is one of their top targets.
Werner has been in superb form for RB Leipzig so far this season, scoring 15 goals and making five assists in 14 appearances in the Bundesliga.
He has also scored twice and made one assist in five Champions League appearances so far this term.
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are currently preparing for their home clash against Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
