Antonio Conte told 29-year-old must start for Chelsea FC v Barcelona
Owen Hargreaves explains why he wants to see Willian start for Chelsea FC in their crunch clash with FC Barcelona
Owen Hargreaves believes that Willian should be given a starting spot for Chelsea FC’s crunch clash with FC Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Brazilian was in brilliant form for the west London side on Friday night as he scored two goals to help the Blues book their place in the sixth round of the FA Cup with a 4-0 win over Hull City.
Wilian has been in good form for the Blues so far this season and has performed whenever called upon by Conte.
Indeed, the 29-year-old has scored 10 goals in all competitions so far this term despite being limited to just 13 starts in the Premier League.
Chelsea FC are now preparing for their crunch showdown against the Spanish giants on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.
And former Manchester United midfielder Hargreaves feels that Willian should definitely be given his time to shine against FC Barcelona following his fine display for the Blues on Friday night.
Speaking to BT Sport, Hargreaves said: “I hope he plays against Barcelona. He’s honestly one of my favourite players in the Premier League to watch.
“He can play as a number 10, he can play out wide – he’s been involved in 13 goals in his last 14 appearances.
“He works hard for the team and is just an exceptional player. He’s a joy to watch, he really is.”
Chelsea FC are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table as they bid to try and secure qualification for next season’s Champions League under Conte.
The Blues won the title and reached the FA Cup final last term.
