Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues have endured something of a blip in form in recent weeks in the top flight, with Frank Lampard’s men having lost three of their last four games in the top flight.

Chelsea FC were beaten 3-1 by Everton at Goodison Park last weekend to compound defeats by West Ham United and Manchester City in recent weeks.

Those results have caused Chelsea FC to loosen their grip on fourth place in the Premier League, with Manchester United now just five points behind them in fifth as things stand.

Frank Lampard’s men successfully booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday night with a 2-1 win over Loic Remy at Stamford Bridge.

And former Liverpool FC and Manchester United striker Owen is fully expecting to see the west London side claim all three points when they welcome the Cherries to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Chelsea have lost three of their last four league games, but Bournemouth have lost their last five and are struggling with injuries.

“Nathan Ake is likely to miss a large proportion of the busy Xmas period having hobbled off with a hamstring injury against Liverpool and the Cherries will badly miss the Dutch international at the heart of their defence.

“The Blues were no match for a resurgent Everton at Goodison on Saturday, but they are a side with genuine quality and I expect them to return to winning ways against a Bournemouth side who are very much in a relegation battle.”

Chelsea FC are aiming to keep their place in the top four this season after they finished in third place under Maurizio Sarri last term.
