Michael Owen states his prediction for Chelsea FC v Brighton
BT Sport pundit Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to beat Brighton in a high-scoring game
Michael Owen is tipping Chelsea FC to beat Brighton in a high-scoring game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues suffered their second Premier League defeat of the season under Lampard last weekend after Liverpool FC were 2-1 winners against Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge.
Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino put Liverpool FC in charge of the Premier League clash before N’Golo Kante scored a second-half goal.
Chelsea FC were praised for their second-half performance against the Premier League leaders despite failing to register three points.
Lampard’s men will have the chance to return to winning ways in the league when the west London side welcome Brighton to Stamford Bridge this weekend.
Chelsea FC haven’t won a league game at Stamford Bridge since Lampard took over the reins from Maurizio Sarri in the summer.
Brighton, meanwhile, have failed to win their last two games on the road in the top flight.
And former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Chelsea FC to beat Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
“Chelsea will feel they could have got something from the visit of the league leaders at the Bridge on Sunday, and I feel that, hitherto, elusive first home league win of the campaign will come at the weekend,” Owen told BetVictor.
“That said, I was impressed with the quality of Brighton’s football at St James’ Park on Saturday evening although the reality is that, for all their possession, they rarely troubled the United goal.
“I expect the Blues to win but once again I expect Graham Potter’s side to play their part in an entertaining game.”
Chelsea FC have lost to Liverpool FC and Manchester United in the Premier League since Lampard took over the reins of the west London club.
The Blues have beaten Norwich City and Wolves on the road, while playing out stalemates with Leicester City and Sheffield United at home.
