Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to claim all three points when they host Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Blues are preparing to welcome the Magpies to Stamford Bridge as they look to continue their recent good form under new boss Frank Lampard.

Chelsea FC are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table after having won three of their last five games in the top flight.

The west London side are now aiming to make it three wins in a row in the Premier League as they look to underline their status as challengers for Champions League qualification.

Newcastle United, meanwhile, travel to the capital on the back of their impressive 1-0 win over Manchester United at St James’ Park last time out.

However, former Liverpool FC and England star Owen is backing Chelsea FC to claim all three points in front of their home fans on Saturday.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Newcastle were outstanding against a poor Manchester United side at St James’ Park in their last game and thoroughly deserved the points, although I think they will do well to keep this exciting young Chelsea side at arm’s length at Stamford Bridge.

“Chelsea have won their last four games in all competitions and look full of goals at present.

“Frank Lampard’s side have come a long way in a short space of time since their heavy opening-weekend defeat at Old Trafford.”

Chelsea FC will then switch their attentions back towards Champions League affairs and their trip to Ajax next Wednesday night.

The Blues are aiming to maintain their spot in the top four this season after they finished third in the table last term.
