Chelsea’s Fernando Torres: I’m part of Jose Mourinho’s plans
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres insists he will be given a chance to play in big games this season after a brace in the League Cup

Fernando Torres is confident he remains part of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea plans after scoring twice in a 2-0 win at Swindon Town.
The Spain international has been out of favour at Stamford Bridge since Mourinho’s return to Chelsea and the summer signing of Samuel Eto’o.
However, the 29-year-old is optmistic he will be given an opportunity to play crucial games for the west London side over the course of the season.
“We know the season is long,” Torres told Chelsea’s website. “We will have the chance to play important games.
“We are in the manager’s plans. We have 25 very good players in the squad and it is difficult to play in this great team, but we are fighting for the positions.
“It is the manager’s decision so to keep working hard is the only chance to start all the games.”
Torres also praised his Chelsea team-mates for a competent performance against the League One side in the League Cup on Tuesday night.
“It was good minutes for the players who have not been involved in the last matches, so everyone is happy to be involved in the line-up and it is one more step forward,” he added.
“It was very tough because always in the cup when you play away against teams in the lower divisions they show what football is about – the passion and the intensity when playing against a top team.
“We know this from our experience in previous seasons so we are very happy with the performance of the team.”
