Joe Cole: Why Tiemoue Bakayoko deserves credit for Chelsea’s opener v Huddersfield
The former Chelsea midfielder believes Tiemoue Bakayoko should be awarded the defending champions' opening goal at Huddersfield

Joe Cole believes Tiemoue Bakayoko deserves to be credited with Chelsea’s opening goal in a 3-1 win at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.
The defending Premier League champions made the breakthrough midway through the first half after capitalising on a mistake in the Huddersfield defence.
Chelsea collected Jonas Lossl’s poor clearance in midfield before Eden Hazard and Willian combined before the Brazilian found Bakayoko with a through ball.
The summer signing managed to dink a finish over Lossl before Chris Lowe deflected the ball into his own net in a desperate attempt to clear the midfielder’s attempt on goal.
BT Sport pundits Cole and Steven Gerrard were divided on whether Bakayoko should be credited with the goal given Lowe’s touch.
Former Chelsea midfielder Cole put forward a case for the 23-year-old dynamic midfielder to be awarded his third Premier League goal of the season.
“I’d like to give it to bakyoko. He’s been having a hard time,” Cole told BT Sport.
“It was a great run. it’s a striker’s finish. I want to give him the goal.”
Bakayoko has made a slow start to his Chelsea career following his £40m move to the defending Premier League champions from French club AS Monaco in the summer transfer window.
The French defensive midfielder was signed before Nemanja Matic’s departure to title rivals Manchester United back in August.
Chelsea have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons.
