Antonio Conte reacts to Pedro’s display for Chelsea v Crystal Palace
Antonio Conte insists that he was very happy with Pedro Rodriguez's performance for Chelsea in the 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace

Antonio Conte has insisted that he was thrilled with Pedro Rodriguez’s performance for Chelsea at right-wing back during the Blues’ 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Spaniard was deployed in an unfamiliar position due to the absence of Victor Moses as Conte’s men suffered a shock defeat by the Eagles at Stamford Bridge.
Cesc Fabregas gave Conte’s men an early lead but Palace were soon in front thanks to two quick-fire goals from Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke.
Chelsea dominated for large spells but were unable to break down Crystal Palace’s stubborn defence.
The 29-year-old Pedro played the full 90 minutes as Chelsea suffered a surprise defeat in front of their home fans.
And Conte insisted that he was delighted with the Spaniard’s performance, despite the disappointment of the result.
“Victor Moses is an important player because he’s having a great season but Pedro played very well in that wing-back position,” said Conte, speaking at his post-match news conference at Stamford Bridge.
“As wingers, they are very offensive and that showed we wanted to play our football. Pedro had a very good game.”
Pedro has scored seven goals and made seven assists in 26 Premier League games so far this season.
Chelsea must now dust themselves down as they look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
