Chelsea reignite interest in signing 30-year-old – report
Chelsea are interested in signing Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus this summer, say reports
Chelsea are set to reignite their interest in signing defender Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Antonio Conte is ready to sound out a move for the 30-year-old, who he coached during his time in charge in Turin and also with the Italian national team.
The report comes despite Bonucci having signed a new contract with Juventus only last December.
The same story claims once again that Chelsea could be set to offer midfielder Nemanja Matic as part of a deal to land Bonucci this summer – a potential move which was also reported last week.
Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements ahead of next season after captain John Terry called time on his glittering Blues career at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
Conte is widely expected to significantly bolster his squad this summer as he prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season.
The Blues won the Premier League last term but came up short in the FA Cup final, when they were beaten by Arsenal at Wembley in May.
