Eden Hazard reveals his advice for Willian during Chelsea FC’s 1-1 draw with Barcelona
The Chelsea number 10 opens up about his advice for Willian during Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Barcelona
Eden Hazard has revealed that he was encouraging Willian to shoot more during Chelsea FC’s 1-1 draw with Barcelona on Tuesday night.
The Belgium international was expected to be one of Chelsea FC’s key players against the Spanish outfit in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash.
However, Willian was Chelsea FC’s best player on the night following four shots on goal during the 1-1 stalemate at Stamford Bridge mid-week.
The Brazilian forward hit the woodwork twice in the first half before the 29-year-old broke the deadlock with a precise finish in the 62nd minute.
Willian squandered a chance to extend their lead to 2-0 before Barcelona forward Lionel Messi equalised to score a vital away goal for the visitors.
Hazard opened up about his advice for the Chelsea FC number 22 during the 1-1 draw with the La Liga leaders in the first leg.
“I said to him that he needed to shoot in the goal and not try to touch the post,” Hazard told the club’s website.
“I said that to him in the first half and you saw in the second half he scored the goal.
“I’m happy for him, he played really well. He’s a top player and he showed that.”
Willian has scored three goals and has made one assist in seven Champions League outings in the 2017-18 season.
The Brazilian midfielder has started 13 games and has made 13 appearances from the bench in the current campaign.
Willian has struggled to dislodge Spain international Pedro Rodriguez and number 10 Hazard in the Chelsea FC team this term.
