Jamie Carragher has urged Chelsea to remain calm despite a poor start to the new season.

The west London side won the Premier League title with two games to spare last term after finishing seven points clear of their closest challengers Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea won 30 games in their title-winning campaign to set a new Premier League record as Antonio Conte secured top-flight glory in his first season in charge.

The Blues have signed Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero, Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata so far this summer.

The Premier League champions have also sold six first-team players to leave Conte’s squad looking slightly threadbare heading into the 2017-18 campaign.

Chelsea lost to Arsenal on penalties in the Community Shield earlier this month after Thibaut Courtois and Morata missed their spot-kicks in the shootout.

Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas were both sent off in Chelsea’s 3-2 loss to Burnley in their Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher, though, had some advice for Conte and his Chelsea players ahead of Sunday’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

“No. They should do the exact opposite to that,” Carragher told The Debate on Sky Sports when asked if Chelsea should be panicking right now.

Chelsea sacked Jose Mourinho in December 2015 after their poor start to their title defence.
