Eden Hazard sends message to Arsenal fans about Petr Cech
The Chelsea star pays credit to Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech following a dramatic 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium
Eden Hazard has hailed Petr Cech as a top goalkeeper after Chelsea drew 2-2 with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Belgium international equalised from the penalty spot to cancel out Jack Wilshere’s second-half opener after Hazard was brought down inside the area.
Chelsea wing-back Alonso appeared to have scored a late winner when he slotted a right-footed finish past Cech with eight minutes to go in the Premier League clash.
But Hector Bellerin made amends for his clumsy tackle on Hazard to concede a penalty with a sensational half volley to level the derby in the second minute of injury time.
Cech managed to deny his former Chelsea team-mate Hazard with a save using his feet, before the Czech Republic international managed to block Alvaro Morata’s effort seconds after Bellerin’s leveller.
The Arsenal goalkeeper made four saves to ensure the north London side secured a point from the dramatic Premier League game.
Hazard paid testament to his former Chelsea team-mate following the four-goal thriller at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
“I think Petr is a great goalkeeper,” Hazard told Sky Sports. “He’s always hard to score against. But I put the ball in the net [for my penalty] and that’s the most important thing.”
Chelsea and Arsenal will go to battle again in the League Cup semi-final over two legs at The Emirates and Stamford Bridge.
