Chelsea and Man United? Guardiola and Mourinho keen to coach in England

Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho have both underlined their desire to coach in the Premier League in the future.

Guardiola is understood to be a target for Chelsea, with Blues owner Roman Abramovich keen to appoint the former Barcelona coach at the end of the season after his year-long break from the game.

Guardiola said: “As a player I couldn’t realise my dream to play there [in England]. But I hope in the future, I have a challenge to be a coach or a manager there.”

Speaking earlier this month, the 41-year-old revealed his intention to return to coaching next season.

“Yes, I would like to come back to coaching [next season],” Guardiola said on 7 January.

“I don’t have a team, I don’t know, but I would like to go back to coaching. My decision has been taken to coach, but beyond that there is no decision taken.”

Mourinho, meanwhile, has long been linked with a return to England and has made no secret of his desire to take charge of a Premier League club again following his trophy-laden spell at Chelsea.

“I know that one one day I will come back because English football means a lot to me,” said the current Real Madrid boss.

The Portuguese coach is said to be Manchester United’s first-choice in the list of candidates to replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
