Chelsea are willing to shell out a transfer fee of £70m to try and sign Alex Sandro from Juventus in the January transfer window, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, as quoted by the Daily Star, is claiming that the west London side are ready to shell out a significant transfer fee to sign the Brazilian in January.

Chelsea were heavily linked with a move to sign Sandro in the summer transfer window but a move failed to materialise as the Blues ended up signing Davide Zappacosta on deadline day.

However, the Blues continue to be linked with a possible move for the 26-year-old as Conte looks to bolster his options at full-back.

Now it is being claimed by Mundo Deportivo that Chelsea are ready to go back in for Sandro in the mid-season transfer window and that they are prepared to spend big on landing the defender.

The Blues failed in their attempts to land Sandro in the summer but they could have more luck with a fresh attempt, because the defender has not yet signed a new contract with Juventus.

Chelsea have made something of a mixed start to the new Premier League season, with their 1-0 loss to Manchester City last weekend leaving them down in fourth place in the table and six points off top spot.
