Andrea Pirlo heaps praise on Chelsea manager Antonio Conte
Andrea Pirlo has heaped praise on Antonio Conte, describing the Chelsea boss as one of the best managers in modern football.
The Chelsea boss earned plenty of praise for his impressive impact at Stamford Bridge after guiding the west London club to the Premier League title in his first campaign in charge last season.
The west London side had finished in 10th place in the Premier League table in the season before but were the top flight’s top performers in 2016-17 as they won the title for the second time in three years.
Conte has earned a reputation as one of the best managers in football at the moment following his impressive start to life at Stamford Bridge.
And Pirlo, who played under Conte when he was in charge of the Italian national team, is a huge admirer of the Chelsea manager.
Speaking to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Pirlo said: “His attention to detail is impressive.
“He also manages to give you convincing explanations about things.
“One of his 20-minute video sessions is worth three days on the training ground. You immediately understand what it is you have to do.
“Over the year he improved, with his desire to win and doing everything to the best of his ability. “He is one of the best, absolutely.”
Conte’s Chelsea side have made something of a stuttering start to the new Premier League season, losing two of their opening seven games.
The Blues were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City in their most recent Premier League outing before the international break to leave them fourth in the table and six points behind the leaders.
