Jamie Redknapp has singled out Cesar Azpilicueta for special praise following the defender’s solid form for Chelsea in recent seasons.
The Spanish full-back has been in top form for the west London club under Antonio Conte and earned huge amounts of praise last season as he played every minute of the Blues’ title winning campaign.
Azpilicueta has started 15 of Chelsea’s 16 Premier League games this term and has been one of the club’s most reliable players in recent years after having signed for them from Marseille back in 2012.
Former Liverpool FC midfielder Redknapp is clearly a huge fan of Azpilicueta following his sparkling form for Chelsea in recent years.
Speaking to Sky Sports before Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to West Ham on Saturday, Redknapp said: “He’s comfortable on the ball, he can step into positions, he’s got that low-flying cross if you want it.
“He has that ability and is always looking for the ball. He’s happy to play all the time and has all types of passes in his game.
“He has been a brilliant signing. He really is. He must be a dream for a manager. He has a great appreciation for the game.”
Azpilicueta has scored one goal and made five assists in 15 Premier League games for Chelsea so far this season.
The west London side are aiming to bounce back to winning ways in the top flight when they take on Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.
Chelsea, who won the Premier League title in style under Conte last season, will discover their opponents in the last 16 of the Champions League on Monday when the draw is made in Nyon.
