Eden Hazard sends message to Chelsea fans about his contract situation
Eden Hazard jokes that Thibaut Courtois must sign a new Chelsea contract before him
Eden Hazard has joked that Thibaut Courtois must sign a new Chelsea contract before he commits his future to the west London club.
The Belgian playmaker’s future has been a source of speculation in recent months and the 27-year-old has been linked with a big-money move to Real Madrid in the past.
Hazard is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s finest attacking talents and he has earned plenty of praise for his strong displays for the Blues since signing from Lille back in 2012.
Goalkeeper Courtois’ future has also been a source of speculation in recent months, with the shot-stopper also having been linked with Real Madrid.
And Hazard has now jokingly suggested that Courtois must sign his new contract with Chelsea first.
Hazard is quoted as saying by the Daily Express: “I will answer you the same as Thibaut.
“First, he must sign, then I will be able to continue. I do not know who will be the first to sign his new contract.
“It’s a secret…”
Both Hazard and Courtois could be in line to feature for Chelsea when the Blues take on Arsenal in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.
The two London sides played out a 2-2 draw in the Premier League clash at The Emirates last Wednesday.
Chelsea are currently third in the Premier League table as they bid to try and finish as highly as possible in the top flight.
