Chelsea will make this signing in the January transfer window, claims Wayne Bridge
Wayne Bridge believes that Chelsea will sign a new striker in the January transfer window
Chelsea will sign a new centre-forward in the summer transfer window to “help” Alvaro Morata, according to Wayne Bridge.
The Spanish striker has earned plenty of praise for the strong start he has made to life at Chelsea since his transfer to the west London club from Real Madrid in the summer.
Morata has been a regular fixture in the first team for Antonio Conte’s men and has shown no signs of struggling to adapt to the rigours of English football.
Chelsea brought in Morata back in July after it became clear that Diego Costa did not have a future at the west London club, with the Spain international eventually signing for Atletico Madrid earlier this week.
Now, former Chelsea defender Bridge is backing Conte to move quickly to try and bring in another forward in the January transfer window as he looks for his Blues side to challenge for the top honours this season.
Bridge told the Sun: “I really like him [Morata] but I expect them to probably sign another centre-forward in January.
“Not to replace Morata but someone either to work with him or they can change.
“Someone physically a bit stronger and who wants to bully defenders.”
Chelsea will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday 14 October.
The Blues won the title last season to secure a place back in the Champions League after missing out on European football altogether last term.
