N’Golo Kante is facing 20-25 days on the sidelines for Chelsea with a hamstring injury, Antonio Conte has confirmed.

The French midfielder sat out Saturday’s disappointing 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace with the muscular problem picked up while on international duty last week.

The 26-year-old is widely considered to be one of Chelsea’s most important players and he was voted as the PFA player of the year last season as the Blues won the title in Conte’s first campaign at the club.

His absence will come as a big blow to the west London side, who have now lost their last two Premier League games.

And speaking at his pre-match news conference on Friday, Conte revealed exactly how long he is expecting Kante to be out for.

Conte said: “[Going by] the previous scan [he will be out for] maybe… around 20 days… 25 days.”

Chelsea will be without Kante when the Blues return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with a crunch clash against Roma at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Blues are hoping to be able to welcome Alvaro Morata back to the fold after the Spanish striker missed the loss to Crystal Palace with a hamstring injury picked up before the international break.

Chelsea’s loss to Palace left them in fifth place in the table and nine points behind leaders Manchester City.
