Pat Nevin described Antonio Conte’s instinctive celebration with Chelsea supporters after Cesar Azpilicueta’s winner as the Blues legend’s “stand-out moment” at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues manager has been facing questions about his long-term future at the defending Premier League champions after a tough start to the season for the Italian coach at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea lost successive Premier League games at Crystal Palace earlier this month when the Eagles were 2-1 winners at Selhurst Park after the Blues lost 1-0 to leaders Manchester City before the international break.

The west London side were trailing Watford 2-1 in front of their home supporters before substitute Michy Batshuayi equalised with 19 minutes to go at Stamford Bridge to start the comeback.

Cesar Azpilicueta scored an 87th minute winner that prompted Conte to dive into the Chelsea crowd to celebrate the Spaniard’s goal before Batshuayi netted his second goal of the game.

Former Chelsea winger Nevin pointed out that Conte’s goal celebration highlighted the Blues manager’s continued passion for the defending Premier League champions.

“The stand-out moment was of course the manager diving into the crowd once more when we went into the lead,” Nevin told Chelsea’s website.

“That moment felt just like last season. The excitement and the passion was on show and scoring seven goals in two games is certainly worth celebrating.”

Chelsea finished seven points clear of their closest challengers Tottenham Hotspur in the title race last season.

The Blues won their second Premier League crown in three seasons last term.
