Chelsea want to appoint former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel as Antonio Conte’s replacement, according to reports in Germany.
German outlet Sport Bild, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that Tuchel is being lined up to succeed the Italian coach at Stamford Bridge following a difficult summer.
The same article states that the Chelsea hierarchy are running out of patience with Conte as the Blues manager vents his frustration at a lack of summer signings.
According to the same story, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has contacted Tuchel about taking over the defending Premier League champions.
The 43-year-old head coach stood down as Dortmund manager last summer following two seasons in charge of the Westfalenstadion outfit.
Chelsea lost 3-2 to Burnley in their Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge earlier this month as Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas were sent off.
The Blues bounced back last weekend after the west London side were 2-1 winners against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley thanks to Marcos Alonso’s goals either side of half-time.
Chelsea won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season in Conte’s first season in charge of the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Conte has signed four players in the summer transfer window so far.
