Frank Lampard has insisted that Chelsea can look back on a positive season despite the disappointment of their FA Cup final loss to Arsenal on Saturday.

The Blues were thoroughly outplayed by the Gunners at Wembley as they ended the season on a disappointing note.

Chelsea had celebrated winning the Premier League title two weeks earlier but were unable to make a domestic double in Antonio Conte’s first campaign as they were comfortably beaten by the north London side.

However, former Chelsea midfielder Lampard feels that the Blues will still reflect on a largely positive season after having won their second Premier League title in three years.

Speaking to BBC Sport after Saturday’s game, Lampard said: “It was one of those days. It was a game too far.

“They were the dominant team in the Premier League this year and you can look at the two weeks they’ve had since they won the title – did they take their foot off the pedal? I don’t think so.

“Sometimes if you turn up to the final not at it completely, at this level you’re going to struggle to win.”

Attentions will now inevitably turn towards the summer transfer window and the players Chelsea could sign as Conte prepares his side for a return to the Champions League next season.
