Steven Gerrard: Chelsea star has unbelievable vision, he’s phenomenal
The Liverpool legend hails Cesc Fabregas after the Chelsea midfielder made his 100th Champions League appearance

Steven Gerrard has lavished praise on Cesc Fabregas after the Chelsea midfielder made his 100th Champions League appearance on Tuesday night.
The Spanish midfielder was named in Antonio Conte’s starting line-up in a landmark night for the 30-year-old midfielder as the playmaker joined Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League’s exclusive 100 club.
Fabregas started his Champions League career as a teenager at Arsenal and was part of the Gunners team that lost 2-1 to his boyhood club Barcelona in the European final in Paris in 2006.
The stylish midfielder moved to Barcelona in a £32m deal from Arsenal in the 2011 January transfer window but didn’t get his hands on an elusive Champions League crown.
Fabregas returned to the Premier League with Chelsea in 2014 but the Blues were eliminated in the round of last 16 following a 4-2 aggregate loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
Chelsea are facing a battle to win the competition this term after a 3-0 loss to AS Roma in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday night.
Former Liverpool captain Gerrard is a big admirer of the Chelsea midfielder following a distinguished career in the Premier League and Europe.
“Cesc has been a top player for his clubs and country as well,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
“He has achieved everything he can in the game. He has unbelievable vision. Give him time and space and he’ll hurt you.
“If you’re judging his career as a whole, he’s been phenomenal.”
Fabregas has won the Premier League, La Liga, the World Cup and the European championship twice during a decorated career.
