Diego Costa sends open message to Chelsea fans about Antonio Conte
Diego Costa insists he holds no grudges with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte
Diego Costa has reiterated that he has no problem with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.
The Premier League champions confirmed on Thursday evening that a deal to sell the 28-year-old back to Atletico Madrid had been reached.
Costa was heavily linked with a return to the Spanish capital after it emerged Antonio Conte had informed the controversial striker his services were no longer required via text.
The Brazilian-born forward has been heavily linked with a return to Atletico Madrid but a deal failed to materialise in the summer as los Rojiblancos contended with a transfer ban.
The Chelsea striker remained in Brazil for pre-season and the start of the Premier League campaign as Antonio Conte’s side lost 3-2 to Burnley in their opening game.
However, Conte’s future has now been resolved and won’t linger over the defending champions as a potential distraction after Chelsea reached a £57m agreement with Atletico.
The Spanish side have signed Costa on loan for the remainder of the 2017-18 season and will sign the prolific forward in a permanent transfer next summer.
Costa won’t be able to represent Atletico until January when Uefa lift their sanctions but that hasn’t stopped Diego Simeone agreeing a fee to re-sign the striker.
“There’s nothing of the sort there, I’m not upset with anybody, I have no bitterness towards anyone,” Costa told Sky Sports. “Everything is cool.”
Chelsea won the Premier League title with seven points to spare last season thanks in part to Costa’s haul of 20 goals.
