Shaun Wright-Phillips sends warning to Chelsea’s title rivals about Eden Hazard
The former Chelsea winger is confident Eden Hazard will get back to his best form once the No10 gets more minutes under his belt
Shaun Wright-Phillips has warned Chelsea’s title rivals that Eden Hazard will get back to his best form for the defending champions in the coming months.
The Belgium international made his first start of the 2017-18 season since returning from a broken ankle last week in Chelsea’s 2-1 win at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Hazard created Alvaro Morata’s equaliser in the Spanish capital before Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi netted an added-time winner to secure maximum points at Atletico Madrid.
However, the 26-year-old was unable to have the same impact in their Premier League clash last weekend as title rivals Manchester City eased to a 1-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard was taken off in the second half with the Chelsea attack struggling to test the Citizens rearguard as Antonio Conte’s men slump to a second defeat of the season.
Former Chelsea winger Wright-Phillips is confident Hazard will return to his best form in the coming months once the number 10 gets more first-team minutes under his belt.
“Hazard will always play the same way,” said Wright-Phillips, speaking exclusively to 888sport.
“He has played so many games in the past couple of years so it’s only natural that he might have a little dip through tiredness but once he’s back on his feet he’s always going to play the same way, with a style that can’t be defended.
“He can turn a game on its head on his own.”
Chelsea finished seven points clear of second-place Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League title race last season.
The Blues signed six players in the summer transfer window to improve their squad ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.
