N’Golo Kante believes that it is only a matter of time before Tiemoue Bakayoko hits top form for Chelsea.

The French midfielder made his debut in a Chelsea shirt last weekend when he was thrown into the starting line-up for the Blues’ 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley in the Premier League.

Bakayoko is one of four new signings to have arrived at Stamford Bridge so far this summer, with the France international having been joined by Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger and Alvaro Morata.

The former Monaco star will be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the Chelsea first team this season as he looks to try and help Antonio Conte’s men retain their Premier League title.

And Kante believes that it won’t be long before Chelsea fans see the best of Bakayoko in a Chelsea shirt.

Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s website, Kante said: “Who plays is not the most important – we had very good players last season and this season also.

“The main thing is how we play and how we work in the training.

“As soon as Tiemoue understands how the team work, how the manager wants us to work, we can play very well.

“Tottenham was his first game and it wasn’t easy for him, because it was the first game away to a good opponent, and he did very well. I’ve tried to help him to settle well at Chelsea and feel good in the squad.”

Chelsea will take on Atletico Madrid, Roma and Qarabag in the Champions League group stage after the draw was made last week.

The Blues won the title last season but missed out on a domestic double when they were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley back in May.
