Chelsea have wished Nathan Ake the “best of luck” for the future after the defender’s transfer to Bournemouth was confirmed on Friday morning.

The defender was heavily linked with a move back to Bournemouth this summer after he enjoyed a successful loan spell with Eddie Howe’s side last season.

Ake was recalled from the temporary spell early by Chelsea back in January but the 22-year-old defender failed to hold down a regular spot in Antonio Conte’s team in the second half of last season.

And after his move to Bournemouth was confirmed Chelsea issued a statement on the club’s official website announcing the news, and adding: “We wish Nathan the best of luck for the future and thank him for his contribution at Chelsea.”

Sky Sports reported this week that the deal for Ake to move back to Bournemouth on a permanent deal is worth around £20m to the Premier League champions.

Chelsea fans will be hoping to see their team begin their summer spending in the coming days, with the Blues yet to officially confirm the signing of any new players so far.
