Frank Lampard says Chelsea may have to make this key signing
Frank Lampard warns Chelsea that it would be very difficult to replace Diego Costa this summer

Frank Lampard has told Chelsea that they will have to sign one of the world’s top strikers if they end up selling Diego Costa this summer.
The Spain international’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent weeks after it was claimed that Antonio Conte has deemed the forward to be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge ahead of next season.
Costa, despite his controversial nature, has established himself as one of the Premier League’s key strikers and was an integral part of Chelsea’s title triumph last season.
It remains to be seen whether Costa will still be lining up as a Chelsea player next season, but Lampard admits that the Blues will have their work cut out in finding a replacement should the striker indeed leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Lampard told Sky Sports News HQ: “He’s a fantastic striker – we all saw that last year. He’ll be very difficult to replace.
“I don’t know where Diego Costa’s mind is, whether he wants to leave or not. That’s all speculation but one thing is for sure you’ve got a great striker in him.
“If he stays, brilliant, but if he doesn’t you’ll have to go to the top end of world strikers to replace him.
“He’s an all-round presence with the quality to get you goals. That’s not easy to find in the modern game.”
Chelsea have been linked with a host of players this summer but the Blues are yet to confirm any deals to sign any new stars.
The Blues are likely to be keen to add depth to their squad ahead of their return to the Champions League next season.
