Chelsea and Liverpool set for bidding war to sign top 24-year-old – report
Chelsea and Liverpool are set to battle it out for the signature of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before the transfer window closes, say reports

Chelsea and Liverpool are set to battle it out for the signature of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before the close of the summer transfer window next week, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the 24-year-old midfielder has turned down the offer of a new contract at The Emirates and is now heading for the exit door ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future has been a source of speculation this summer because he has entered into the final 12 months of his contract at The Emirates and Arsenal could risk losing him on a free transfer next year.
According to the report, Oxlade-Chamberlain turned down the offer of a new contract at Arsenal worth £180,000 a week and has told the north London club that he wants to leave.
The same story says it looks likely that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be sold rather than let him run down his contract.
However, despite the speculation, the same article says that Arsenal are yet to receive a bid from Chelsea, and that Liverpool are monitoring the situation.
It remains to be seen whether Oxlade-Chamberlain will feature for Arsenal when the Gunners take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
