Paul Scholes uses Chelsea to make point about Man United
Paul Scholes assesses both Chelsea and Manchester United's start to the season in the shadow of Manchester City
Paul Scholes has claimed that Manchester City are making the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United look “average” this season with their stunning Premier League form.
Pep Guardiola’s men have been running riot at the top of the Premier League table and look to be the nailed on favourites to win the title this season.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have been stuttering over the festive period as they slumped to their third straight draw after the goalless stalemate with Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday.
It doesn’t look as if any team will be able to catch Manchester City in the race for the title, with the Citizens in stunning form so far this term.
And former England midfielder Scholes believes that situation is causing the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United to feel worse off than they actually are.
Speaking to BT Sport on Saturday, ex-Manchester United star Scholes said: “It’s not bad from United but unfortunately there’s one team who are looking pretty special.
“They’re making everybody else look average, not just United.
“Chelsea are not looking great this year because the standard’s been set by a top-class team.”
Manchester United will aim to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they travel to Everton on Monday afternoon.
The Red Devils are looking to at least improve on their sixth placed finish in the Premier League under Jose Mourinho last term.
