Chelsea signing could unlock door for Man United to land 28-year-old – insider
Chelsea's proposed deal to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco could hold the key to Manchester United's bid to land Nemanja Matic, says James Cooper

Chelsea’s proposed signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco could open the door for Manchester United to sign Nemanja Matic, according to journalist James Cooper.
The Blues are thought to be closing in on a move to sign the 22-year-old Monaco midfielder as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have been linked with a move for Matic as Jose Mourinho looks to find a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick in the heart of the Red Devils’ midfield.
However, journalist Cooper believes that Manchester United’s proposed move to sign Matic could be held up until Chelsea are able to get a deal for Bakayoko across the line.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday morning, Cooper said: : “Chelsea are looking at Bakayoko from Monaco and that would maybe unlock the door for Matic to come to Manchester United.
“Likewise with Alvaro Morata, if he leaves Real Madrid, then Real Madrid will probably have to find a new striker.”
Manchester United are likely to want to bring in as many new signings as possible before they jet off to the US for their pre-season tour on Sunday.
The Red Devils are preparing for a return to the Champions League next season after they won the Europa League under Mourinho last term.
