Chelsea star Michy Batshuayi is the deadliest striker in Premier League history, according to Tony Cascarino.

The Belgian striker grabbed the headlines on Saturday when he came off the bench to score twice and inspire Chelsea to a 4-2 comeback win over Watford at Stamford Bridge.

Batshuayi has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge since his transfer to the club from Marseille in the summer of 2016.

However, he has more than proved his worth as a substitute, with the Belgian having come off the bench to score crucial goals on multiple occasions.

Of course, Batshuayi will be hoping that his good form will earn him a regular spot in the Chelsea team in the coming weeks and months.

However, Cascarino believes that the 24-year-old forward deserves more credit for his performances for Chelsea so far this season.

Writing in his column for The Times, Cascarino said: “I’ve heard an awful lot about what Michy Batshuayi cannot do.

“But the one thing he can do is score goals and his record of one goal every 60.57 minutes makes him the most deadly striker in Premier League history.

“OK, he has only scored seven so far but, among players who have scored more than five, nobody has scored more often – and that includes legends such as Thierry Henry, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Sergio Aguero.”

Batshuayi will be hoping to line up for Chelsea when the Blues return to League Cup action on Wednesday night with a home clash against Everton at Stamford Bridge.

The west London side are currently fourth in the Premier League table and five points behind leaders Manchester City after nine games of the season.
